Renna Leyens Godchaux, 1933-2003
Renna Godchaux was once called “a little capsule of dynamite.” Pictured here with Felicia Kahn, she wrote legislation for the Historic District Landmarks Commission, helped oversee the building of the Piazza D’Italia, served on the Urban League board in the 1960s during desegregation, helped found the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts and the Contemporary Arts Center, and was a founding board member of Planned Parenthood.
