Irma Moses Isaacson, 1902-1973

Irma Isaacson organized new immigrants through the NCJW Port and Dock Program. Sara Stone remembered that Isaacson introduced her to a life of activism through this program. Isaacson also helped initiate “Our Enduring Heritage,” a program of study and education through Hadassah, Brandeis, and NCJW, which grounded members’ social activism through their Jewish heritage.

Her 1937 thesis for a Social Work degree from Tulane concerned Jewish philanthropy in New Orleans and is still one of the only full histories of the subject.
